We decided to do a questionnaire to try and find out a bit more about our users in order to satisfy their needs once our application has been developed.
Q1. DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE PAIR OF TRAINERS?
We wanted to ask this question to identify whether our users value their trainers or not.
83.3% of our users answered that they do have a favourite pair of trainers, which shows to us that they value their trainers. This was the outcome that we hoped for as we hope that users value their trainers which would hopefully be the reason as to why they would want to use our application in order to make their ideal pair of trainers.
Q2. HAVE YOU EVER USED NIKE ID OR ANY OTHER MASS CUSTOMISATION APPLICATIONS? (THIS DOESN'T HAVE TO MEAN THAT YOU PURCHASED THE SHOES, THIS COULD MEAN THAT YOU PURCHASED THE SHOES, JUST USING THE APPLICATION IN GENERAL

We asked these question to find out whether people that are interested in trainers actually put their interest to use and use mass customisation tools.
83.3% of our users said that they have used Nike iD, making it the most popular application for our user demographic. We want to take this data and use it to our advantage, adding features that replicate some features that nike iD provide for our users. That way we know what our users like and we know how to use it to our advantage in order to satisfy them.
Q4. DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE BRAND OF TRAINERS, IF SO NAME THE BRAND?
We asked this question so that we could identify what our users favourite trainer brands are so that we could then use models that are of the same brand or replicate a similar style.
50% of our users stated that Nike is their favourite brand of trainers, meaning the majority of models that we use will replicate Nike model design. The other 33.4% did mention that Adidas and Converse was their favourite brand so we will also supply our users with replicate models of these shoe brands.
Q5. WOULD YOU SAY THAT YOU HAVE A UNIQUE STYLE CHOICE IN FOOTWEAR?
We wanted to know if the results from this question reflected whether people care and take notice of their style of footwear in order to try and stand out, as this is the purpose of our application.
66.7% of our users said that they do have a unique style choice in footwear and 33.3% do not.
Q6. IF YOU HAD THE OPPORTUNITY, WOULD YOU LIKE TO DESIGN YOUR OWN TRAINERS?
We wanted to know if our users would like to be involved in the design process of making their own trainers if they were given the opportunity to do so.
100% of our users stated that they would like to design their own trainers if they had the opportunity. Designing your own trainers if the main function of our application so the fact that all of our users want to design their own trainers, works out for us. The only thing that we noticed was that all the users stated that they would design their own trainers if they had the opportunity but one user stated earlier that they have not used any mass customisation tools and wondered why. They might have never explored that type of application tool, or they felt like they never wanted to use it because they found the application difficult to use. We need to take that into consideration when designing our application, make sure that it is open to all users and make it very easily interactive as a general application.
Q7. DO YOU HAVE AN INTEREST IN DESIGN?
We want to know whether this correlates with them wanting to make their own trainers.
100% of our users stated that they do have an interest in design. Not all our users have to be interested in design, which is why we don't want to make the application too complicated and make sure that it is user friendly. On the other hand the fact that the majority of our users will be interested in design, we need to make sure that we are also satisfying their needs which is why we wanted to include a feature that allowed them to use patterns to decorate the shoes and also upload their own patterns/materials to use on the shoes.
Q8. DO YOU THINK THAT YOUR CHOICE OF FOOTWEAR SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF?
We wanted to know whether our users see themselves as having a unique style of footwear and whether that says anything about them as a person, If so then this application is perfect for them.
We want our application to allow people to express their creativity through the design of their own trainers. People shouldn't be judged by what they wear but they should be able to feel comfortable with what they wear and be able to stand out from the crowd if thats what they want.
CONCLUSION:
From the feedback that we have gained from our questionnaire, we are going to make sure that we take our users opinions on board and use that to our advantage when developing our application. This way we can satisfy our audience correctly and hopefully the final outcome will be successful.
Some things that our users stated and how we will include it within our application:
Shoe models of different shoe brands / replicating the shoe brands
Allow users to save their work - that way they can capture their creativity and share it with whoever they want.
Don't make the application too complicated - Not all users will be into design or used to editing softwares
Create a broad range of patterns and materials so that users can have a good choice range
Make sure that users can have their own influence on their design process - by adding any features where users can use their own patterns/images/materials
